DISPLACED – Climate-Induced Displacement
Storms, droughts, floods, and rising sea levels are forcing increasing numbers of people from their homes, making climate-induced displacement one of the most urgent global challenges. Climate change has become a leading driver of displacement, affecting over 1.7 billion people over the past decade. Whether triggered by extreme weather events or gradual shifts like drought and land degradation, the climate crisis is devastating livelihoods on a massive scale. Despite this, climate migrants are not recognized as refugees under international law, leaving them in a legal limbo. The DISPLACED portraits go beyond stories of loss and suffering to highlight dignity, resilience, and hope, underscoring that climate change is not just an environmental issue but a profound humanitarian crisis.
